Many years ago I began noticing how much enjoyment our clients had just walking to and from Escalante’s famous slot canyons. As we hiked across vast expanses of colorful sandstone, exploring interesting geologic formations and taking in the serenity I couldn’t help but notice the smiles on the faces of our guests and the shine in their eyes was every bit as bright as they had been “in” the canyon. So after 10 years of very slow research we realized that adding a tour that spends the day exploring the trail less slickrock, enjoying the great wide open, might be a good idea!
On our “new” cross country excursions, guests will hike between two and seven miles at a relaxed and appropriate pace. There will be ample time to stop and “smell the roses” on these tours, as you cross gently sloping sandstone slabs, simply cruising around taking in the incredible scenery surrounding you. There is often abundant evidence of prehistoric inhabitants and we will have the time to appreciate their existence and place in this land. It’s one of the first things that brought me to the Southwest and I still say it’s a great way to spend the day. I’m ready to go just talking about it!
