Basic Canyoneering - “on rope!”
$135 per person per day (approx. 8hrs). Includes your guide, gear and lunch. Gratuities not included (but appreciated!). Complimentary transportation may be available.
Escalante is not only home to world class technical slot canyons, it is home to hundreds of them. This gives us countless canyoneering opportunities to offer to our guests at the basic canyon skill level.
On our introduction to canyoneering excursions, guests learn advanced down climbing skills, such as chimneying, stemming, bridging, mantling etc. They also experience the basic fundamentals of rope work, including hand lines, belayed down climbs and small belayed rappels up to 100 ft. Our goal is to slowly introduce guests to the very basic and safe principles of canyoneering. These trips are not only exciting and spectacular, they give you the ability to enjoy yourself in these stunning places. It may also inspire the confidence to get out and safely explore a few canyons on your own sometime.
